The question

um...last weekend, no the weekend before that. yeah. the 20th of Feb. I went out to Utah. It was a much needed, much anticipated vacation from work. I had big plans wih Erika and we kept busy all weekend long. Friday, after Matt picked me up from the airport and a quick stop at the distibution store, I found Erika in her class building. She was very impatient for my arrival and I got to sit through her training session. We went to a ward activity at her Bishop's house and I got to meet several people of her ward. Saturday came and it was off to the mountain to go snowboarding. I had not been for 3 years or so and she had never been. We went with Cam, my brother-in-law who was in town for his birthday from Baton Rouge, his brothers Ben and Russ, and their cousin Matt. it was a crowded drive up there, thats for sure. It took Erika a while to get the hang of it, but its ok. It was fun doing something I enjoyed with her and she has never failed me to attempt an adventure with me. That evening it was her turn and she took me to the opra. luckily for me it was in english so I understood half of what was sung. When Sunday came, she was getting impatient. She knew I was going to ask, but not when and how, so I kept her stung along as long as I dared. I had a plan all along anyway. We went to church and that evening we went to ward prayer. They then get together at some member's apartment for a "munch and mingle" and get the oppurtunity to write notes to ward members and have them delievered that night. I had set up with her roommates to have each of them write the words "Will, You, Marry, Me, and ?" on the bottom of some mini rubber duckies I had found (that is a story you will have to ask Erika about) and they were delievered that night. Her roommate announced that she had a love note and put them on the coffee table. Erika thought nothing of it and continued to play on her computer and talk with me. A moment goes by and she looks around the side of her computer and looks curiously at the ducks. she grabs one of them and looks at the bottom and puts the message together. When she looks at me, I have a duck with a ring around its neck and procceed to ask her if she will marry me. She did say yes. we set a date for August 22nd.

Babe, I'm much better at telling that story. But I guess I've had more practice. :-) And you didn't say anything about how it took me an hour to get down the mountain the first time and how I almost gave up and sat down and cried. Oh well, I liked snowboarding after that time down. It's always better if you work for it anyway.

Glad to finally hear the story. Though it sounds like we need to hear Erika's version to get the full effect. Love ya! And congratulations.

Congrats Clayton. I am happy that you have found the one for you. I know that you will be happy with her. it isn't always easy but it is worth it.

Glad that you had a great time in Utah. can't wait to hear the whole story from her perspective.

Hey, still no idea about what you want for your wedding... You know I'm just getting more and more pregnant every day! What are you waiting for?

I tagged you and Erika--see my blog for what to do (even though I'm pretty sure neither of you will actually do it). No guilt here.
