10 Miles without water?

So as Erika mentioned, I went on a 10 mile hike on Wednesday afternoon. Myself, along with the Scout Master, were leading our deacons north down the Bonneville Shore Trail. It was the same trail Erika and I went down a few days before, but not nearly 10 miles. Well, we met at five and two boys showed up. (out of six) One had a back pack with bottles of water and some snacks. The other had his iPod. We decided to head out, but instead of the trail, we went down the road to gather the other deacons. The first said he was not home. The second grabbed his high tops while the third was not home. The last one grabbed his shoes as well and then we went to the boy who had brought the back pack to stop and get supplied. He had enough hydration packs for the boys. Myself and the other leader had ours. I actually carry mine around all the time. So finally after about 40 minutes we were ready to go.

We hiked down the trail and followed a deer path for a while. then we blazed our own till we found the right one. Once we got about 3 miles in, the trail started switching back so up the hill we went. We found a fork and went one way and after several miles, ended up back at the fork again. We went as far as we could, till a fence stopped our progress. Some teenager even yelled at us to get off his mountain.

The boys did pretty well, but it was dark by the time we got back. 10 miles is a long way, but we made it. Good preperation for our 30 mile, five day trip at the end of July.

Just have to make sure to bring the Duct Tape

Cam went to boy scout camp a few years ago, and one kid brought ONE PAIR of socks. What could they be thinking?
